Bring a clear property brief

Download the printable clearing worksheet (PDF)

Use this short worksheet when discussing the work with an owner, contractor or builder. A simple sketch and a few clear answers can explain more than a long list of equipment names.

Property and permission

Record the parcel location, access permission, known limits and reviewing authority. Identify uncertain boundaries before marking a work line.

Work and retention

Write down the next use, the area to open and the areas that stay. Add the entrance, machine route, staging and wood destination to the same sketch.

Price and handoff

Record what finish the price buys, what needs another contractor and who can authorize a change. Keep a dated copy and a wide photo from a repeatable point.

Take the worksheet to the walkthrough

Use one copy for the proposed work and keep a dated copy for handoff. Draw the entrance and the work line first. Mark any area that must wait for a survey, locating or permission. Leave room near the gate on the sketch to show where larger material can be loaded.

At the final walkthrough, write down the visible finish, the location of any retained stump or pile and who handles the next step. Keep the sheet with the photographs taken from the same viewpoints. The PDF can be downloaded directly without giving us contact details.
